Forum Organization regularly hosts career fairs to connect students with their future employers. For the Rhône-Alpes Forum (FRA) 2022, we wanted to encourage seamless and widespread contact sharing between participants. To achieve this, we launched a contact sharing competition.
A Contact Sharing Competition
We developed a real-time web application that displayed the results live on a large screen. Two leaderboards were presented: one for recruiters, and one for applicants. The top applicant won a pair of EarPods, while recruiters were rewarded with valuable connections made during the event.
The dynamic dashboard also played video advertisements on a continuous loop, offering companies an effective platform to promote their brand image.
The development team
Our team was composed of our fabulous manager Taha Boussaid and 4 Frontend & Backend developers, i.e. Aymane Ghanam, Yahia Bellamine, Taha Mdarhri and me.
The app's technical stack
We used Flask python framework, which relies on the Jinja templating engine. We also used AJAX to update the leaderboards by making API calls to the NoSQL database.
A successful event
The deployment of the server during the fair was a success. Visitors were looking on the giant screen to know if they were in the top most scanned people.
I'm really proud of the result we could achieve with this lovely team. The whole thing of hosting a fair, taking care of the hirers and guiding the visitors was an awesome and touching experience.
